F-15EX改めEagle II誕生！量産2号機を前倒しで納入

2021年3月11日のF-15EX初号機に続き、2021年4月21日、最新型のF-15EXの量産２号機が予定よりも早く米国空軍に納入されました。すでに開始している米国空軍によるテストに２機目のF-15EXが加わります。

そして、最強の戦闘機と呼ばれていたF-15Cイーグルの後継機種F-15EXは、Eagle IIと呼ばれます。

外観からは、F-15イーグルとの違いがほとんど分からないF-15EXイーグルIIについて、ボーイング社と米国空軍のEGRIN AIR FORCE BASEのWebサイトの情報から初号機と２号機の写真を中心に説明します。

F-15EXイーグルIIとF-15との違い

F-15EXに関するニュースにも出てくるのですが、F-15EXの最も大きな特徴はOpen Mission Systems（OMS）アーキテクチャ（基本概念）にあるようです。

OMSアーキテクチャを簡単に説明すると、最新の航空機技術の迅速な投入を実現することを目的としており、次のようなメリットがあります。

F-15EXのデジタルバックボーン、オープンミッションシステム、ペイロード容量は、将来のネット対応戦闘のビジョンに順応する。
システムを継続的にアップグレードできるように設計されており、高度な脅威に対抗するために重要な戦闘部隊全体でのデータ共有に対応することができる。

OMSアーキテクチャの採用は、

量産２号機が予定よりも早く納入されていること、
米国空軍での試験が、２つの部隊が協力してF-15EXの試験を実施している
- 第40飛行試験飛行隊（The 40th Flight Test Squadron）
- 第85試験評価飛行隊（The 85th Test and Evaluation Squadron）

こともその表れではなないかと考えています。

写真でも紹介しますが、F-15CとF-15EXの外観上の違いは正直なところよくわかりません。しかし、F-15EXの外観では分からない部分に、次に示すような特徴があります。

極超音速兵器（hypersonic weapons）を搭載可能
旧型のF-15で利用可能な最新のミッションシステムとソフトウェア機能（旧型からのアップグレードが可能）

いかに戦うかという意味では、第５世代のステルス機、F-22やF-35との統合運用も当然のように想定されていますし、期待寿命も前機種の２倍と、イーグルIIという名前に相応しい新型機と呼んでも遜色のない機体となっています。

なお、F-15C/Dの後継機といえば、F-15EXとの違いがよく分からないAdvanced F-15Eもあるのですが、違いについて理解していないのでまたの機会にまとめてみたいと考えています。

2021年9月：F-15EXイーグルIIのパイロットに関する話題

F-15EXイーグルIIのパイロット資格に関する話題です。

2021年9月1日、EGLIN AIR FORCE BASEにて、F-15EXとF-35Aの両方に搭乗した世界で2人しかいないパイロットの1人が誕生しました。

そのパイロットは、 Commander of Air Combat CommandのGen Mark Kellyで、飛行時間6,000時間以上の戦闘機パイロットです。

空中給油機KC-135ストラトタンカーとNorthern Edge 21については、以下をご参照ください。

F-15EXがノーザン・エッジ2021において運用テストと大規模な部隊統合を初公開したそうです。ノーザン・エッジ2021はF-15やF-35の他爆撃機や空母も含む大規模演習です。納入後間もないのに大規模演習での運用テスト、完成度が高いと考えています。

まとめ

2021年3月11日の最新型のF-15EX初号機に続き、2021年4月21日、２号機が予定よりも早く米国空軍に納入されました。そして、最強の戦闘機と呼ばれていたF-15Cイーグルの後継機種F-15EXは、Eagle IIと呼ばれます。
